Mr. Garad has been accused of siding with the now defunct Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) in Mogadishu. Hassan Dahir Aweys, the leader of UIC is his uncle. He is the the man who coined the famous over used slogans such as "weak transional federal goverment" and "the powerful UIC". A. Farah
